Shift

A Tidy app

A sit-stand reminder you can't dismiss by tapping. It waits for the desk to actually move.

iPhone · one-time purchase · in testing

See it work

Shift's Today screen: a prompt to move with a real exercise, the day drawn as a sit/stand/move/away bar, and a transitions count. Shift's Trends screen: transitions per day and a longest-static-block chart where a long stand is the same red as a long sit.

Today hands you a real movement and draws your day as a bar. Trends keeps the only score that matters — transitions.

The one rule

Dismissal is never completion.

Every sit-stand reminder fails the same way: it fires a timer, you swipe it away, swiping becomes reflex, and the app is dead in three weeks. Shift has one rule everything else follows from — a nudge resolves only when your iPhone's barometer feels you actually change height. Stand up and it registers the move on its own; when it genuinely can't tell, Shift says so and trusts your tap. A swipe is never counted as done.

The quieter idea

Standing too long is a failure too.

Prolonged static standing is the classic risk factor for varicose veins, so the unit of success isn't standing minutes — it's transitions. In your Trends, a ninety-minute stand shows up in the same red as a ninety-minute sit, and Shift will nudge you back down out of a too-long stand. Your keyboard always still works.

What it does

A nudge you can act on, then verify.

The nudge

An actual movement.

Not "stand up" — a specific micro-exercise like finger extensions or a wrist stretch, with a plain "Not sure how?" guide a tap away.

The proof

Verified, not dismissed.

The barometer confirms the move where it can, and logs each one — "Stood up, felt +2.9 m." Honest about the times it has to trust your tap.

The score

Transitions, not minutes.

Your day as a sit / stand / move / away bar, a daily transitions target, and a longest-static-block chart that treats sitting and standing alike.

The shape of it

Paid for once.

One-time purchase, no subscription — ever. It's an iPhone app today; a Mac companion is in the works, and when it lands the one purchase will cover it. The first stretch is a calibration window: Shift learns your hours before it starts pushing, so the trial is the honest version of the app.

No analytics, no account, no backend. Everything stays on your device or in your own iCloud — there's nothing to log in to and nowhere for your day to be sent.

When it's ready

New apps, when they're ready.

Shift is in testing now. Leave your email and I'll let you know when it's out — and whether you'd like to help test it first.
