This is the privacy policy for TidyBar, the menu-bar declutter utility. It’s written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email me.
The one-sentence version: TidyBar runs entirely on your Mac, collects nothing, and sends nothing to me or anyone else.
What It Collects
Nothing. TidyBar has no account, no analytics, no telemetry, and no server. It makes no network connections of its own — there is nowhere for your data to go, because there is no “away.”
What It Stores
Only what it needs to remember your setup between launches: whether your icons are currently collapsed, whether you’ve seen the one-time welcome, and your launch-at-login preference. These live in your Mac’s standard app preferences, on your Mac. They never leave it.
Permissions
TidyBar asks for no system permissions — no accessibility, no screen recording, no automation, nothing. It’s sandboxed by the App Store, and it needs none of the escape hatches a sandbox can grant. It arranges its own menu-bar items and that’s all.
What It Never Does
- Never collects, stores, or transmits any personal data.
- Never uses analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind.
- Never talks to a server — there isn’t one.
- Never asks for a permission it doesn’t need (which is all of them).
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it. Since TidyBar collects nothing and sends nothing, there isn’t much here that can change — but if it does, it’ll be stated plainly.
