This is the privacy policy for TidyStage, the one-shortcut clean-desktop utility. It’s written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email me.
The one-sentence version: TidyStage runs entirely on your Mac, collects nothing, and sends nothing to me or anyone else.
What It Collects
Nothing. TidyStage has no account, no analytics, no telemetry, and no server. It makes no network connections of its own.
What It Stores
Your preferences — which backdrop you’ve chosen and your settings — in your Mac’s standard app preferences. If you pick your own image for the backdrop, TidyStage copies that one image into its own private app folder so it survives between launches. That copy stays on your Mac and is used for nothing but drawing your backdrop.
Permissions
TidyStage asks for no system permissions. It doesn’t script Finder, doesn’t change your wallpaper, and doesn’t touch your icons — it simply lays a clean, full-screen window over the top of them on each display, and takes it away again when you’re done. Nothing is moved, hidden through the system, or altered.
The only file it ever reads is one you hand it: if you pick a custom backdrop image, the standard open panel grants read access to that single file, and nothing else. TidyStage never browses, reads, or scans anything you didn’t choose.
It does not read your documents, take screenshots, record your screen, or restart Finder.
What It Never Does
- Never collects, stores, or transmits any personal data.
- Never reads your files, beyond a backdrop image you explicitly pick.
- Never uses analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind.
- Never talks to a server — there isn’t one.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it. Since TidyStage collects nothing and sends nothing, there isn’t much here that can change — but if it does, it’ll be stated plainly.
