Still Dark is a prayer journal that does one thing: it gives you a quiet page to pray, and then gets out of the way. Check the common questions below — and if they don’t cover it, send me a ticket at the bottom of this page and it comes straight to my queue.
Common questions
Where are my prayers kept? On your device, and — if you use iCloud — in your own private iCloud, encrypted end to end. There’s no account and no server I can read them on. See the privacy policy.
How does syncing work? Automatically, between devices signed in to the same Apple ID with iCloud on. Open the app to bring it to the front and it fetches the latest. There’s no button to press and no login.
A prayer isn’t showing up on my other device. Check that both devices use the same Apple ID and have iCloud turned on, and that you’re online. Then open Still Dark on the device that’s behind and give it a moment — it syncs when it comes to the foreground.
How do I lock the app? It unlocks with Face ID (iPhone) or Touch ID (Mac). On Mac, open Settings (⌘,) → Lock when away to choose how soon it locks, and press ⌘L again from the archive to lock it immediately.
Can I open on the writing page instead of full screen (Mac)? Yes — Settings (⌘,) → Open in full screen. It takes effect the next time you open the app.
How do I remove all my data? Delete the app, then remove its iCloud data in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Still Dark.
What does it cost? One price, paid once. Buy it on either Mac or iPhone and it’s yours on both (universal purchase). No subscription.
Requirements macOS 14 or later, iOS 17 or later.
